Types of Wire Mesh Storage Cages

Wire mesh cages come in many styles; by bottom configuration they fall into three common types: wheeled, footed, and wheeled-and-footed. Knowing each type's features and uses helps you pick the right one for your storage and turnover needs.

The three common types. Wheeled cages have casters underneath and are mainly used for in-plant material turnover, easy to push by hand. Footed cages use dedicated stacking feet, can be piled on each other, and can also sit on racks. Wheeled-and-footed cages do both: push for turnover and stack when needed.

Structure and materials. Cages are welded Q235 high-carbon drawn-wire mesh on a U-channel steel bottom frame, assembled with reinforced springs and clips as a foldable structure. The standard finish is cold galvanizing; powder coating or hot-dip galvanizing is optional by environment, giving corrosion resistance for workshop, warehouse and even outdoor storage.

Extended options. Wheeled cages speed up in-plant turnover; cages with PVC or steel panels stop small items falling out; improved versions can sit on racks, assembly lines or be stacked. Sturdy and reusable, they cut labor and packaging costs.
