Mezzanine Racks and Steel Platforms
Mezzanine racks and steel platforms build a second steel-floor level on uprights where the clear warehouse height allows, upgrading single-floor flat storage into vertical space. The upper level can be used for storage, office or picking, markedly improving space utilization and effective storage volume.
Structure. The platform usually comprises steel columns, floor panels, stairs and safety railings; floor panels are chosen as grating, checker plate or composite decking according to the load. Columns are sized from the floor load; once decked, they form a flat working surface, with lighting and fire-fighting facilities fitted.
Design points. Before planning, measure clear height and floor capacity, and define the upper-level use and floor load. Upper-level work needs stairs and edge railings; goods lift/openings must reserve space for hoisting or conveying. Floor load, span and column spacing should be set by professional structural calculation.
Applications. Steel platforms suit warehouses with high clear height that need expansion, serving as upper storage, office or picking platforms, and combined with heavy racks they form three-dimensional storage.
